Tap the + button in the Sources tab, paste the RSS feed URL, and tap Add. The app validates the feed and starts fetching articles right away. Looking for feeds? Browse the Community directory — it lists working feeds for hundreds of publications.
Some publishers change their RSS URLs without notice. Check the Community directory for an up-to-date link, or tap Report broken next to a feed so we can fix it. You can also remove the feed and re-add it using the current URL from the publisher's website.
Open the Community directory, choose a country or subject, then tap Download OPML or Download Excel. Open that file with Safe & Informed — or import it from Settings → Import — and pick which feeds to add. The app starts empty, so you're always in control of what you follow.
On the Pro plan, the app generates a natural-sounding audio version of your articles using AI text-to-speech. Briefings are cached on your device so you can listen offline. Your Pro subscription includes a monthly allowance of AI voice generation; the free plan uses your device's built-in system voice, which is always available at no cost.
AI voice briefings are generated on demand through a third-party AI service (OpenAI's text-to-speech), so the first play of a new article can take a few moments — especially on a slow or busy connection, or when generating a longer briefing. Once generated, the audio is cached on your device, so playing it again is instant and works offline. If a briefing seems stuck, check your connection and try again; if it keeps failing, you can switch to the built-in system voice at any time, which works instantly and offline without using your AI allowance.
Open Settings → Restore Purchases inside the app. On iPhone or iPad, make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the purchase; on Android, use the same Google account.
Yes. Articles are cached while you have a connection, so you can read them offline. Downloaded audio briefings can be listened to without internet access too.
Subscriptions are managed through your app store:
iPhone / iPad: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Safe & Informed → Cancel Subscription.
Android: Google Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Safe & Informed → Cancel.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then.
Email us at contact@safeandinformed.com with a description of what happened and your device model and OS version (iOS or Android). Screenshots or screen recordings are a huge help.
The Community directory lists links to publishers' own public RSS feeds; we don't host, copy, or redistribute any article content. If you're a publisher or rights holder and would like a feed removed, email us the feed URL and we'll take it down promptly. See also our Terms of Use and Community Rules.
